| So today I woke up at 6 am and took the bus to Sir Charles Tupper Secondary and I was earily. It was still DARK when I first arrived to the school. I was nervous and cold but then there were light in the school area and there were students' arts everywhere. I met one student who is a bass player in the band and I asked him the school hours. He was very nice and friendly. So my first impression of Sir Charles Tupper Secondary is warm, welcoming, friendly and artistic. Since I havn't met the VP yet and I didn't know who my SA was, I didn't go to the band room directly. I was just listening outside. It's great to listen a bit and observed the students' art work in the early morning. The VP, my SA and other teachers in Tupper were very friendly.
It's just that 19 courses got cut and they were still working on the schedule. They had staff meeting during lunch time and after school as well. It's the craziest time that they have so we just came at a "RIGHT" time... haha... So there were a lot going on at school today. And it's interesting to get all kind of different information about the school. It's great for my community profile assignment. However it's still a bit scary to know the decreasing rate of students and cutting full time staff.....
YEAH... I got to observe one guitar class and a art class. The guitar class is interesting. We got all kind of students from different grade and different level of guitar's background in the same class. So some students have totally NO IDEA how to play the guitar and some students know how to play the guitar pretty well. My SA told me that there were some students with learning disability and she was working on classroom management in that class. It's nice to focus my observation in one specific area and I got to talk to the students while they were working on their own. I also found the art class very inspiring and students were trying to use their art to bring public awareness for homeless people...
Anyways I am overwhelmed again. hahaha... and there is lot of stuffs that I need to work on..... I just want to share my day with you guys. I HAD a GREAT DAY in Tupper and it was not as SCARY as I thought.. However it used up all my energy and I was very tired at the end of the day... NEED TO SLEEP....... OMG... | | |
| Oh SO NICE... Monday is going to be our first week of practicum and we are going to know where we are going today (Friday afternoon....) haha.. HOW NICE...
OMG... some of us still don't have the confirmation for their practicum... OH NO.. How scary... TAKE CARE guys.. WE will ALL BE JUST FINE...
Video inspirational......
WOH... today we watched a video from one of the American teacher...... It is very inspiring and it reminds me of my MOM... I didn't miss my mom like that within these ten YEARS....... OMG.. I just can't stop crying.. SILLY me... I know.. TOBI.. you are so right... TO be a teacher like that.... You just CANNOT have KIDS....... HOW can you take care of your children when you give all your time to your students and the school?????? you just CAN'T....... I LOVE my mom and I always think she is a GREAT teacher and I am proud of her job...... but she always say that she is not a good mother.. I did not understand why she said that..... I meant.. She worked so HARD to gain money for our living.. FOR US.... Although we could not LIVE together for almost ten years, it was not her choice..... I mean..... ANYWAYS... I COULD understand HER now.... I really could..... missing ten years of our FAMILY time...... Anyways.. I just had just a strong feeling and lot of thoughts after watching that video.. I could go on talking about that forever but then I chose to not make it big......
Anyways that weekend I told my mom that I miss her and I want to go back and work in her school and learn from her when she called...... I NEVER EVER want to work in her school AT ALL and NEVER EVER want to work in the same environment with her AT ALL.. BUT I start to want it... I want to see what her real teaching life is.... NOT knowing that she goes to school 7 days a week and spending all of her time on her students and school......
I also LOVE the story books too... BOTH of the video and book remind me why I want to become teacher AGAIN after all those heavy issue yesterday.......
It's great that they did their order like this..... WHAt a supprise... CONNECTION again.. hahaa..
yeah PUB....... thanks my teacher for the little gifts for our practicum.... it's SCARY but exciting too.....

Woh.. I thought today's topic was a bit HEAVY (for me)... haha.. I just want to share with my classmates whoever felt like stress or overwhelmed. I just want to say "ME TOO"... haha... But I am sure that everything will be OK.. It will JUST be FINE.. Like Colin said "how worst can that be..." By the way, I felt much better after I went to the pub with you guys. THANKS SO MUCH. And I am looking forward for tomorrow's Mountain Shadow pub.. Thanks Stephanie for organizing that... Oh it's too bad that Colin can't come but I am sure that we will have lot of chances to gather together right. Oh happy birthday to Colin's brother and hope colin can enjoy his time with his family tomorrow.
Oh and thanks for Anne-Marie's lesson at lunch. I enjoyed writing and acting out the poem. It's interesting to see others' poem too. thank you..
I really enjoyed Don (colour wheel)'s lesson through but I still need some time to work on the lesson plan. I am still not sure the order for the lesson plan but I got a better ideas on the difference between (outcomes, objective and big ideas) also (strategies and activities). And there are still lot of similiarity between some headings. It's lot of information and I will need more time to work on them. I also need to prepare the 'Routines and Procedures' and 'community profile' for monday too.
Oh I still need time to work on writing out the lesson plan for Don's colour wheel's lesson........ OPS... | | |

Alternative school Debreif...
WOh.. sounds like everyone is enjoying their alternative school experience... it's too bad that we could only go to one alternative.. It will be nice if we can go to ALL.. ahhaa... However it's great to share our experience.. I really want to go to visit the special need school and the adult school too...
15 mins lesson plan...
My lesson plan was based on a card game called "Bohnanza". I was hoping that students would be able to learn and enjoy the game during my lesson. I also hoped that students would be able to work and interact with others during the game. I had a lot of ideas on how to help different students to enjoy and understand the rules differently. And I was trying to incorporate all my ideas in my lesson... HOWEVER I was TOTALLY running OUT OF TIME... I basically fail my task.. HAHA.. =< We didn't even have time to run through the game once.. OH NO... I felt so bad that I didn't check the time. Acually I was very nervous. I was trying so hard to think of something interesting and something I can feel more comfortable to teach to my group. Acually I taught these bean card games to two group of my friends a while ago and I did not find any problem when I was teaching them. Well we had a lot more time back then and I did not need to concern as much.. It's good that I learn that I need to work on my time management. And I also need to learn how to give clear instruction wisely. I think my instruction is TOO LONG and BORING... I am not sure how to work on that.. Do you guys have any suggestion? Acually I learnt a lot today. THANK YOU. I really enjoyed learning from my group. We made all kind of COOL gifts and be able to show the stuffs that I learnt to my friends and family. THANK YOU VERY MUCH to my group. I also saw lot of interesting lessons in different groups too. I wish I can learn from you guys too. I am sure that's lot of FUN and can learn a lot from you guys.
Again, I really need to learn how to tell a 'short story' 'SHORT'......... Firstly I don't know how to tell a 'long story' 'short', secondly I ALWAYS tell a 'short story' 'LONG'...... haha..
